What You're Buying
When you buy a Booki.sh ebook, you're not buying a downloadable file – you're buying ongoing access to a website containing the contents of the book. The format of the website adjusts automatically to suit the device you're using, whether it's your iPhone, Blackberry, Android phone, laptop or your desktop PC.
In many cases, you don't even need to be connected to the internet in order to read your books.
Who You're Buying From
This book is being sold to you by Readings, using the Booki.sh software provided by OverDrive, Inc. Readings has entered into agreements with the publishers of the available books in our shop, and has set the purchase price of each.
The Booki.sh application manages user accounts (so that you can buy books from any Booki.sh retailer and access them all from a single user account), takes care of credit card transactions (so that we can ensure a smooth and secure process every time), and provides the technology that allows you to read books in your web browser.

Credit Card Security
When you purchase your first Booki.sh book, you will enter your credit card details and authorise the transaction. You will also be given the option to authorise future transactions on that credit card, so that you can buy books easily without having to re-enter all your information each time. The next time you buy a book, you will only need to verify the transaction with your account password. If you prefer, you can choose to re-enter your details each time you make a purchase.
Your credit card details are transmitted to the payment gateway, Payment Express, under the protection of SSL (look for the padlock icon in your web browser). Payment Express then requests authorisation from your bank to proceed with the sale. Human beings never see or handle your credit card information.
Booki.sh encrypts and stores the first and last four digits of your credit card number and your card expiry date so that we can remind you to update your card details if necessary.
All our security is only as good as your password though – so make sure you choose a good one that doesn't include the name of your pet or child, or the birthdate of anybody you've ever been remotely close to.
Permanence
We are committed to ensuring that the books you buy through Booki.sh continue to be available indefinitely, accessible from the URL sent to you in your receipt email. In the unlikely event that you purchase a book from Booki.sh which shouldn't have been sold to you (this could happen if a publisher makes available a title that they don't have the right to sell in your country, for example), we may be required by law to retract the book. In this case, you will receive a full refund, and we'll try to give you a few days to finish the book before we make it disappear.
Refunds
All Booki.sh books should be able to be read on any device and operating system or web browser version listed in our compatibility chart. In some cases, special features – like videos, enhanced interactivity, audio and so forth – may only be available in top-rated browsers. If you purchase a Booki.sh book that is unreadable on a device that we claim is compatible, we will issue a corrected edition within 48 hours, or refund the purchase price.
We don't offer refunds in any other circumstances, except where required to by Australian law.
